Futurity, and National Futurity Nominated

This is Mystic Bey Mirage. She is known as Mirage to most, but we (Victoria and I) call her Baby Rhage.

Mirage is very special to me in so many ways. I bred and raised her, she was born one week to the minute before Victoria. Her dam was a very dear to my heart horse, Mystic Girl. Mirage was a horse I had planned and dreamed of for so long. I did want her to be a colt in the worst possible way because at the time I was convinced I was a gelding person. Mirage was born a filly. I also dreamed she would be my country horse, she is my hunter pleasure mare.  I am now so very happy she is what she is.

Mirage was born VERY late and when she finally decided to come into the world she looked very similar to a month old foal. She never did the stand up, fall down routine, she just waited until she was ready and jumped up and that's where she remained. I have often made the comment that she will do what you teach her when she is good and ready. Her first couple years she was a sassy girl that often refused whatever you asked her to do the first time around, but then when she was ready she did things like a pro, just like the day she was born.

Looking back, I have many fond memories of those days, and some not so fond as well! Mirage is now a 5 year old mare. She is now very willing and wonderful to work with. Mirage had her halter & perforamance training with Jessica Cole, who did a wonderful job turning Mirage into a lovely hunter mare. We did a bit of halter showing in her first couple years, then we moved on to the performance ring late in the 2003 season. I couldn't think of a better horse to "get back in the saddle" with!  She is a joy to ride, and is very sensible under saddle. She's been a great amatuer horse for me, a sane leadline horse for Victoria, and I even had a youth rider show her this year too!

We have had a great time & Mirage has accomplished a lot for being so young which you can read about in the "news" section.  We have also done very limited showing on top of it!  I am also extra proud that Mirage has become a great amatuer horse after so little training and also after a horrible leg injury in the fall of 2003 leaving her very little time undersaddle overall. Mirage's big plan for the 2005 season was to hit the showring with Victoria riding her in leadline. They did a great job showing in hunt attire at 2 shows and western at one.

I would like to thank the following people who have helped make my dreams with this mare become a reality:

~ Jo Anne Wood of Black Knight Arabians in MI. For allowing me to lease your special mare and as a result I got this wonderful filly that will someday carry on her mother's name.

~Jessica Cole for doing such a nice job with her training and showing her to her 2004 Region 10 Top Five Hunter Pleasure Jr. Horse.

~Val for being my support and my right hand woman the night Mirage was born. I truly honor your friendship.

~Jamie for being my inspiration to start getting my horses (and myself) back into the show world. It's been a blast and will only get better.

Trevor for the countless hours of sitting at the barn, at horse shows, being a helping hand, a groom, and a ton of support.

~Jenna for being such an awesome youth rider at the 2005 MAAB show.
